A. William Musgrave, Jr. DBA, MBA

Dr. William Musgrave possesses global management experience in entrepreneurship and innovation, multicultural leadership, technology transfer and commercialization, mergers and acquisitions, and has had P&L responsibility for a midsize multinational electronics unit of a publicly traded company. He is also experienced in quality transformations, corporate training in project management, and nonprofit management and fundraising. He has been a co-founder of a Silicon Valley startup and is a former U.S Navy Captain in the Supply Corps. 

Dr. Musgrave has maintained an active involvement in higher education throughout his professional career, bringing his experiences in both the public and private sectors into the classroom. Presently he is a lecturer at San Jose State University where he teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in global entrepreneurship, management and organizational behavior, and strategic management.

Previously at San Jose State University, Dr. Musgrave led the planning and establishment of the Silicon Valley Center for Entrepreneurship and developed an entrepreneurship elective track in the MBA program. At University of Maryland University College he was a faculty administrator and program director who developed a new graduate program track in Procurement and Contract Management. He has also lectured at universities in India, China, and Japan, and spoken at technology conferences around the world. He has been featured in news journals and appeared on radio and TV for his insights on global entrepreneurship. His research interests are in team-based learning, global entrepreneurship, leadership, and public sector change. Dr.Musgrave has developed a theoretical model, The Entrepreneur’s Global Value Chain , to explain transnational entrepreneurial linking behavior. He is a member of the Academy of Management.

Bill was previously the president & CEO of The Enterprise Network (TEN) of Silicon Valley, an accelerator for startups and home of eBay. In his capacity at TEN, he also served as executive director of the NASA Ames Technology Commercialization Center in Mountain View, CA and helped Silicon Valley entrepreneurs commercialize NASA research. Also at TEN, he reached out around the world to establish alliances and bridges to Silicon Valley to promote global entrepreneurship and economic development in Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Estonia, Israel, and Vietnam. He has advised senior officials in emerging countries in Latin America, Asia, and Eastern Europe on entrepreneurship and innovation as an engine of economic growth. Prior to TEN, he was a vice president and general manager with DRS Ahead Technology in Silicon Valley. While at DRS, he was engaged in corporate acquisition activities, established the company’s Minneapolis Division, and led the acquisition and turnaround of an electronics factory in Bulgaria. Formerly with ESI International, Dr. Musgrave trained project managers in Fortune 100 companies in the U.S. and Europe.

While in the U.S. Navy, Bill managed large scale logistics operations, was engaged in weapon system acquisition projects and government procurement policy reform initiatives, and served on missile ships and Navy operating bases. He also led a large regional governmental contract management organization where he was responsible for administering over $100 billion in DOD and NASA contracts with several thousand companies. Dr. Musgrave earned both MBA and DBA degrees from The George Washington University in Washington, DC. He and his family live in San Jose, California.
