RCP sets up individual record review interviews (also called “Speed Screenings”) to let people know what is on their records and their next steps in clearing them.  The RCP has conducted over 2300 individual legal advice interviews since 2011.

Many convictions are likely to be dismissed without needing to go to court. RCP lets people know when the law requires convictions to be dismissed and felonies reduced.  (When a court hearing is needed, the preparation required is beyond the scope of  these record review interviews.)

In recent years, the California Department of Justice (DOJ) has dismissed many convictions and arrests automatically.  However, they do this without notifying the individual involved; having a record review interview can let them know if the DOJ has cleared any of their convictions automatically.

The Santa Clara County District Attorney's office provides free copies of records to the RCP, with a person's permission, so that we can conduct these record review interviews.

If you would like to set up an interview to have your RAP sheet reviewed, please mail expunge@sjsu.edu for more information.
