SJSU Cares provides comprehensive support for students facing financial crises, including emergency assistance, housing and food resources, and access to mental health services. Housing Services

Emergency Bed Program

Any currently enrolled matriculating student who is experiencing housing insecurity is eligible for temporary emergency housing on campus. Designed for students who do not have a safe & stable place to sleep tonight while we engage with them on next step planning. If you're struggling with housing, reach out to a Case Manager by requesting assistance to discuss your individual needs.

Rapid ReHousing Program

The Rapid Rehousing Program is a partnership with the Bill Wilson Center that provides additional case management and fiscal support to eligible students who may be facing housing insecurity. Designed for students who are unhoused, at risk of losing their place. Can provide multiple months of tiered off housing assistance. Eligibility for the program is determined after the student meets with a Case Manager. Complete the request for assistance form for more information.

Housing Search Assistance

Food Assistance

Are you finding yourself struggling to afford food?

You are not alone. SJSU Cares has two great programs to help you get the food you need to focus on your education: the Spartan Food Pantry and Calfresh.

Spartan Food Pantry

No student should ever go hungry. This full service walk-in pantry offers perishable goods, fresh produce, and refrigerated goods at SJSU.

Emergency assistance

SJSU Cares also provides help after natural disasters and other emergency situations, from floods and fires to burglaries and break-ins. If you are in need of assistance, please submit a Request for Assistance form.

How can a Case Manager help?

Case managers are skilled and caring partners, facilitators, and advocates for students experiencing barriers to their basic needs, health, or academic progress. Case managers connect students to personalized information, services, and resources to help students meet and sustain their needs and overcome barriers to their well-being and success.
