Transition Programming

In 2019, the Promise began to expand into a program within SOAR that focuses on helping incoming ESUHSD students transition to SJSU, build connections, and navigate the University.

Our Vision is to collaborate with the campus community on interactive, intentional programming  to foster academic, personal, and professional  development, and a college going mindset, in ESUHSD students.  To do this, we have three objectives:

1 - Help students become part of larger campus community
2 - Serve as a support system for ESUHSD students and their families
3 - Decrease % of academic probation and disqualification in cohort

Our Programming Includes:

Growth pledge

The Growth Pledge is a collaboration based on accountability, in which, the student and the SESP staff advocate, engage, and work towards the student's academic, personal and professional growth.

Get Involved!

The SESP Club is currently in its piloting phase, whereas we intend to draw interest and apply to be a Recognized Student Organization (RSO) in Fall 2021.

The SESP Club will be an extension of the Spartan East Side Promise Program with the intent to create a community space for East Side Union High School District graduates, provide leadership opportunities, and connect students to the SESP Program and campus services.
