First Time Academic Notice

If this is your first time on University Academic Notice (SJSU Cumulative GPA Below 2.0) you are required to participate in our Spartans Back on Track  Program. 

Complete the following steps:

• 1. Wait to receive an email from us

  • Please expect an email from us a few weeks before the semester begins. We will explain when the Academic Notice hold will be placed and when you can expect to be added to the Spartans Back on Track Canvas course.

• 2. Participate in the Spartans Back on Track Canvas course

  • An invitation to the Spartans Back on Track Canvas course will be sent to all students. Please make sure to accept the course invitation to be activated.

    Once you are in the course, please make sure to participate in the weekly modules. These are designed to not take more than 10-15 minutes of your time per week. A timely completion of all of the modules means that your hold will be removed on time for you to register in courses next semester.

• 3. Meet with an CoSS SSC Academic Advisor during the semester

  • In addition to participating in the Canvas course, you will need to meet with an CoSS SSC advisor during the semester to discuss your grades and progress toward good standing. You will be reminded on Canvas when to make this appointment.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

• What will happen if I do not follow the Academic Notice protocol above?

  • There will be a delay on releasing your Probation Advising Hold and you will not be able to register for classes on your assigned registration date.

• What if I cannot finish the modules by each deadline?

  • You should still complete them as soon as possible.

• How can I make an appointment to meet with an CoSS SSC Advisor to address my hold?   

  • Appointments can be made by logging on to canvas or your Spartan Connect account.
