Are you interested in becoming involved in campus sustainability?

Here are some resources and opportunities to engage virtually online and on campus this semester and get involved with SJSU Green Campus:

2. Sign up to receive our quarterly newsletter here.

3. Enroll in the Environmental Resource Center! Any major can sign up for this course for elective units and join the organization that organizes SJSU's annual Earth Day festival and many other projects on campus.

4. Take a part in Climate Transformation Challenge! Student can win up to $5000

Do your part on campus

Looking for some tips to help campus sustainability? Try some of these out and do your part to be a Green Spartan:

1. Reduce plastic use by:

  • Bringing a reusable water bottle to campus!
  • Buying water in larger volumes, to reduce individual water bottle use!
  • Making your own coffee or favorite tea drinks at home!
  • Bringing a reusable cup or mug to one of our many coffee shops!
  • Say no to the straw, or bring a reusable one!
  • Make your lunch at home, save packaging!

2. Reduce water use by:

  • Turning off the tap when you are brushing your teeth
  • Take showers that are only as long as two songs
  • Ensuring that taps in buildings and dorms are turned off when not in use
  • Report water leaks to staff and faculty around campus

3. Reuse, don't buy new:

  • Join a Fix It Clinic event to mend and fix broken things or torn clothes
  • Utilize the freecycle channel on the sustainability discord or the Sammy App to trade items or find a gently used item
  • Shop at thriftstores, save money and the planet

4. Don't be a litter bug:

  • Whether you're planning an event or attending one, have a plan for reducing the litter created
  • Avoid glitterbombs with plastic glitter, bad for the planet - bad for campus
  • Try to make an effort to safely pick up litter around campus, it's your home too!
