WiE Study Tour to Intel
33 women engineering students visited the Intel Silicon Valley Innovation Center in a WiE study tour hosted by Patricia Robb, General Manager of Intel Innovation Center. They attended presentations from Intel leaders including Selma Bensaid, Audra Diaz-Infante, Sung Lee, Valerie Pilloud, Patti Robb, and Lina Yang. They also toured the company lab, participated in a career panel session, and engaged in a networking reception. A variety of STEM majors attended the field trip, but most attendees were undergraduate students majoring in electrical engineering or computer engineering.
Talking with employees and touring the company labs were the favorite parts of the study tour. Chemical Engineering student Ikram Laaguidi notes, “the career panel was very informative which allows me to meet great intelligent women that gave us a strong motivation to succeed in engineering." Mechanical Engineering student Rachel Bui adds, “I really enjoyed learning and listening to the female engineers talk about their life experiences in the work field.” In addition to gaining a new appreciation for networking, students learned about new technologies such as self-driving cars, while gaining invaluable insights on career and internship opportunities.
