Student Success

Educational Opportunity Program

The transition to college is rarely easy. The Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) assists students who are historically disadvantaged because of their economic and educational backgrounds. The program provides academic advising, tutoring and enrichment opportunities for students, many of whom are the first in their families to attend college.

Guardian Scholars Program

Part of the Educational Opportunity Program, the Guardian Scholars Program has helped former foster youths succeed in college. The program provides the kind of support many students receive from their families: help transitioning to college, finding housing, and navigating admissions, financial aid and academic advising.

The Student Crisis Support Fund assists students involved in tragic events or crisis situations. Whatever the need, this fund can help with tuition, temporary housing, groceries, replacement of clothing and household basics, unexpected medical needs and other essentials.

Happy Student

New SJSU students join a community of Spartans—other students, faculty, staff and alumni—who are committed to supporting them in their learning, to providing a clear pathway to graduation, and to forging a lifelong connection to SJSU. You can help SJSU live up to this promise by supporting student success, a university priority and campus-wide effort.
