Biography

I'm a speech and hearing scientist who is intrigued by the ways our auditory experiences change our brain. I started by exploring how tinnitus—ringing in the ears—affects the brain. Now, my focus has broadened to the relationship between hearing disorders like tinnitus, hearing loss, and vertigo, and their impact on our cognitive abilities. My work has been published in journals such as Cell Reports, Ear and Hearing, Brain Research, Frontiers in Computational Neuroscience, and Network Neuroscience. My postdoctoral journey has stops at Columbia University and the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), as well as the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. My Ph.D. in Communication Disorders from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln set me on this path. Data analysis is a cornerstone of my research. If you know of any datasets that could shed light on the relationship between hearing and cognition, I'd love to hear from you!
