EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING - Campus is open and operational.

From now to July 12, 2024 the National Weather Service issued an Excessive Heat Warning in effect which includes all areas in Santa Clara Valley and the eastern Santa Clara foothills. This includes campus.

Facilities Development and Operations does not expect any closures to campus or significant changes to operations.

Review Heat-Related Illnesses safety information from Environmental Health and Safety.

  • Limit unnecessary time outdoors during the hottest and sunniest hours of the day.
  • Drink plenty of fluids, stay cool, stay out of the sun, and check up
    on relatives and neighbors.
  • Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to the early
morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat
    exhaustion and/or heat stroke.
  • To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and
Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in
shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat
should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an
emergency! Call 9-1-1 if you notice any heat-related illness symptoms for guidance or help.
  • Monitor the latest forecasts and warnings for updates.
  • Stay cool, stay hydrated, stay informed.
  • Beat the heat and check the backseat! Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes. Leaving pets or children in cars is illegal in California
