Course Experience & Credit

• How does the course work?

  • You will work with a cohort of SJSU students to build important leadership and career-readiness skills through fun, challenging projects. Through these projects, you will master 21st Century skills that will help you persist in college and in your career. You will develop tools to lead authentically, unlock your hustle, discover and design your career path, network like a pro, and ace your interviews. You will apply these tools to a culminating project that solves a problem for a local company. You will spend about 5 hours per week on this course.

• How is the course organized?

  • Weekly Learning Labs: Meet with your coach and peer cohort of 5-8 other students to engage in skill-building simulations, practice, and experiences

    1:1 Leadership Coaching sessions: Meet one on one and develop your leadership skills with a working professional

    Weekly Online Modules: Work at your own pace to leverage your personal strengths to kickstart your career

    Three Major Projects: Design your Career, Hustle to Career, and Capstone Challenge which helps you build a personal portfolio to prepare you to apply for a job or internship.

    Consulting Team Project for Local Company: Challenge projects, with the support of your coach, allow you to apply the skills you have learned. Learn about the culminating projects students work on.

• How to enroll?

  • When you are ready to register for courses, log onto MySJSU to add or drop classes. Search for "SSCI" (course subject) and "101" (course number). See the tutorial on how to enroll [pdf]. Contact the Office of Registrar if you need registration assistance.
