CPGE Summer Research Stipends
- Purpose: To stimulate and encourage faculty grant writing and other research writing during the summer.
- Eligibility:
- All tenured/ tenure-track faculty and full-time lecturers (including .8s) in CPGE are eligible for Summer Research Stipends. However, new ADS tenure-track faculty who are receiving the two summers of support payare not eligible to apply while they are receiving those summer funds.
- Faculty who are also teaching during the summer are still eligible for these Summer Research Stipends.
- Recipients of Summer Research Stipends must submit a report documenting how they used the research stipend and what the RSCA outcome was by September 1st; they must also present the research they worked on during the summer as a virtual “brown bag” research presentation in the following academic year.
- Support Amount: Summer research stipends are $5000. Stipends are to be used to support writing for peer-reviewed journals and conferences, writing for books, and/or grant-writing. This stipend is not to be used for travel-related expenses or to attend workshops, trainings, or conferences.
- Selection Criteria: Priority goes first to probationary tenure-track faculty; second to associate professors interested in getting promoted to professor; third consideration will be for all other applicants.
- Alignment with SJSU and CPGE research goals (10%)
- Topic and problem statement (10%)
- Innovation and novelty (Significance) (30%)
- Proposed approaches and solutions (30%)
- Project plan and available resources (20%)
- Selection Committee: The Associate Dean for Academics and the Department Chairs comprise the selection committee, which will make recommendations to the Dean who will make the final determination for the award.
