Short-Term Emergency Housing
The Short-Term Emergency Housing program provides temporary housing for students experiencing an immediate housing crisis, such as homelessness or unsafe living conditions. This program offers a safe and stable place to stay while students work closely with SJSU Cares to develop a plan and transition into long-term, sustainable housing.
This assistance provides you with the following:
- Crisis Support
Immediate access to temporary housing during urgent situations - Housing Transition Planning
Support in identifying and securing longer-term housing options - Ongoing Case Management
Regular check-ins with SJSU Cares to provide guidance, resources, and support throughout your stay
Eligibility Requirements
- Currently enrolled student at SJSU
- Experiencing homelessness, couch surfing, or living in an unsafe environment, or facing eviction
- Adheres to no drug or alcohol policy
- Adheres to the no guests policy
- Commits to meet with an SJSU Cares case manager weekly
- Adhere to all campus and university housing policies
- Actively looking for and securing long-term housing
