How to Register?

*Check back in March 2023 for Summer 2023 dates. 

A Current SJSU student

Students can register in advance using MySJSU to sign up for Summer Session classes. Before enrolling in a class, students must meet any required course prerequisites. Current SJSU students—register through MySJSU:

  • Session One: registration closes June 7. 

  • Session Two: registration closes July 11.

A Non-SJSU/Open University Student

Web Registration for Non-SJSU students begins April 13 for both Session One and Session Two. Registration closes for Session One on June 7 and closes for Session Two on July 11

First time Open U student

Returning Open U
student w/ SJSU ID

  1. Create MySJSU account via Quick Admit.

    (Quick Admit is not available at this time.)

  2. After 24-48 hours, activate your MySJSU account and use the blue MySJSU button on one.sjsu.edu.

  3. Registration begins April 13. Enroll in classes via MySJSU. Add yourself to the waitlist if class is full. Must have GAPE office approval for 200 level classes.

A Wait List Student

The waitlist shall be prioritized for graduating seniors who have a graduation application on file for summer and fall 2022; and spring 2023.

If you have been placed on the wait list, check your MySJSU periodically to check your status. After you are enrolled, see calendar for payment deadline.

 

A Student with a Disability

Students with disabilities needing support services for classes (such as interpreting, test accommodations or note-taking) should contact the Accessible Education Center.  call 408-924-6000, e-mail aec-info@sjsu.edu or visit www.sjsu.edu/aec.

 

Incoming Fall admitted students

Students need to submit the Open University registration form on Forms page and make sure to use the SJSU ID they receive from the Admissions office.

 

Repeating a Class

  • First time Repeat – you may enroll online through your MySJSU from April 4 through April 25
    Starting April 26 - you must email the Office of the Registrar at registrar@sjsu.edu for enrollment. Include your name, ID#, 5 digit class number, subject, course number, and section number in the email. Beginning on the first day of summer instruction, a permission number will be required
  • Repeating for the Second Time or more -- If you are repeating a class more than twice, starting April 4, submit the Repeat a course more than 2 times petition. Be sure to follow all instructions.

 

A Graduate Student

Graduate students need to complete the Open University Registration Form. Please follow instructions on the first page of the form. The Open University registration form is accessible from the first day of instruction until the last day to add without a late fee.

The Open University Registration Form is automatically routed to the Graduate Admissions and Program Evaluations (GAPE) Office when requesting enrollment for 200-level courses. You will be required to upload a transcript showing your bachelor’s degree conferred as proof of your earned degree.  

 

A Student in Disqualified Status

Enroll in classes via Open University Registration Form with signature in Docusign. Ask the instructor to add to the waitlist if the class is full.

The Open University Registration Form is automatically routed to the Graduate Admissions and Program Evaluations (GAPE) Office when requesting enrollment for 200-level courses. You will be required to upload a transcript showing your bachelor’s degree conferred as proof of your earned degree.   

 

An Open University Student Who Cannot Register Online

Complete the Open University registration form with signature in Docusign. 

The Open University Registration Form is automatically routed to the Graduate Admissions and Program Evaluations (GAPE) Office when requesting enrollment for 200-level courses. You will be required to upload a transcript showing your bachelor’s degree conferred as proof of your earned degree.   

 

Steps to Take After Web Registration Closes

First Day of Instruction

If you missed the Advance Web Registration period, you may register online at MySJSU; or submit Summer Registration Form to add classes with a permission number(s).

Beginning June 8 for Session One or July 12 for Session Two, all students must use a Late Enrollment Petition form with instructor, department chair and CPGE Associate Dean signatures to register.
