Academic Notice

Students with an SJSU GPA below 2.0 are placed on University Academic Notice. Academic Notice prevents students from registering for classes. They must meet with a Student Academic Success Specialist to register for the next semester. Raising your SJSU cumulative GPA to 2.0 or above will return you to good academic standing. You can find more information on the catalog website under University Academic Requirements.

First Time Academic Notice

If this is your first time on University Academic Notice (SJSU Cumulative GPA is below 2.0), you must meet with an Exploratory Student Academic Success Specialist. During this appointment, we will discuss your grades and progress toward good standing.

You will receive an Academic Notice Hold on your account due to your academic standing. Meet with an Exploratory Student Academic Success Specialist to remove your hold.

Continuing Academic Notice

Students on academic notice stay on it if the next term's GPA is 2.0 or better, but their SJSU cumulative GPA is still below 2.0. Students will stay on academic notice until they return to good academic standing ( SJSU cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher).

If you're on continuing academic notice, you will receive another academic notice hold. You must meet with an Exploratory Student Academic Success Specialist to have this hold removed. During this appointment, we will discuss your grades and progress toward good standing.

Academic Disqualification

Undergraduate students on academic notice can be academically disqualified. This happens when their term GPA for a Fall or Spring semester is below 2.0 while they are on academic notice. Your transcript shows the disqualified status. If you're facing academic disqualification, meet with a Student Academic Success Specialist.
