Summer CC Faculty Technical Workshop

This year we had a three-day workshop for our CC Faculty Members to learn about the basics of computer vision techniques and algorithms, code execution on Raspberry Pi, and adopting this topic in a related course (electronics, computer vision, AI, or similar courses). This workshop included the following topics:

  • A review of Python programming
    • Basics such as lists, dictionary statements, operators 
    • Methods and functions
    • Object-oriented programming
    • Module and packages
    • Errors and exceptions
  • Raspberry Pi setup
    • Hardware setup
    • Inputs and outputs
    • Navigate, download, and install software
    • Code execution
  • Basics of computer vision with OpenCV
    • Basics such as transformation, segmentation, background subtraction, etc
    • Image analysis
    • Object and shape detections
  • Computer vision code implementation on Raspberry Pi
    • Computer vision algorithm implementation
    • Live camera feed analysis
    • Real-time image analysis

All the topics include hands-on experience, real-world examples, and projects. At the end of the workshop, our participants were able to learn and expand their knowledge in the programs and will transfer their knowledge to their classrooms.
