MSW 3-Year Program

In the 3-Year Program, the foundation year is completed over two years; the third year is equivalent to the final year of the 2-Year/Full-Time program plan.

First Year

The first year has a load of 2 classes per semester (cohorts of classes Mondays and Wednesdays in the evening) and no internship. Students take these foundation classes primarily in the evening hours (6:00PM to 9:00PM).

Field internship is held in Year 2 and Year 3 of this program.

Second Year

The second year has a load of 2 classes per semester (cohorts of classes Mondays and Wednesdays in the evening) and a field course which includes 16 hours of internship per week (Tuesdays and Thursdays) and field seminars. Internships are traditionally during regular agency business working hours.

Third Year

The third year has a load of 4 classes per semester (Mondays and Tuesdays morning through evening) and a field course including 24 hours of internship per week (Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays) and field seminars. In the final year of classes, students are not in cohorts or restricted to certain class time.

Summer Preparation

If you are admitted to the On-Campus Program, please expect to do some summer reading and writing preparation, attend field internship fair, and to attend as many as five days of mandatory orientation 1 to 2 weeks prior to the start of your first semester of classes in August.
