RTP Sessions

• RTP: Preparing your Dossier – Just-in-Time sessions

  • These sessions are intended to support faculty who will be submitting or reviewing RTP Dossiers. SCHEDULE COMING SOON. 

• RTP: Overview of the RTP process for Tenure Track faculty

  • This session is intended for tenure-track faculty in their first year at SJSU. We will provide a general overview of the tenure and promotion review process as well as the eFaculty platform. SCHEDULE COMING SOON. 

• RTP: Seeking promotion from Associate to full Professor

  • This session is intended for tenured faculty who are interested in seeking promotion to the rank of full Professor. We will provide an overview of the tenure and promotion review process as well as more specific guidance about preparing your Dossier. TBD

Career Planning Sessions 

• CP: Getting off to a good start:  Time management strategies and organization tips for busy faculty

  • The academic semester has a tendency to fly by, and we are often frustrated by how little we feel we have accomplished by the end of the term.  Please join me for a 90-minute workshop on strategies to align your time with your priorities and increase your productivity while striving for balance in your life.  Location: TBD. 

• CP: Congratulations – You Earned Tenure…Now what?

  • With one of the most significant career milestones behind you, this is a good time to consider the next phase of your career. What new opportunities and challenges do recently-tenured faculty experience? What paths and priorities seem like the best match for your talents and interests? Come hear from a panel of seasoned colleagues about their experience and their advice. 

• CP: Mid-Career Faculty Retreat

  • We invite you to join us for a full-day retreat, devoted to the professional growth and renewal of faculty at mid-career. Hear from colleagues who have pursued a variety of opportunities during their post-tenure career. Spend time identifying goals and resources to help you move along the arc of your career. All tenured faculty are eligible to participate. Priority will be given to those at the rank of Professor, or who have been Associate Professor for at least 5 years. 

• CP: Transition to Retirement & Life after SJSU

  • SJSU is one of a handful of campuses, nationwide, to have received an award from the American Council on Education, to support our work developing resources to assist faculty with the transition to retirement. One of the activities we undertake each Spring is to partner with the Emeritus and Retired Faculty Association, to host an event where you can hear first-hand from former colleagues about their experience thinking about and then making the transition to retirement. 

•  CP: Overview of the FERP and PRTB programs

  • This session is intended for faculty who are interested in finding out more about the two phased retirement programs offered by the CSU – the Faculty Early Retirement Program & the PreRetirement Reduction in Time Base program. Feel free to bring a brown-bag lunch. 

•  CP: Sabbatical and Difference-in-Pay leaves

  • We invite you to attend this lunch-and-learn panel presentation about sabbatical and differencein-pay leaves. Panelists will share their experience applying for leaves, reviewing leave applications, and making the most of their time while on leave. 

•  CP: Nuts & Bolts of Sabbatical and DIP leaves

  • This session is intended for faculty who are interested in finding out more about the nuts and bolts of eligibility, obligations and application processes for sabbatical and difference-in-pay leaves. Feel free to bring a brown-bag lunch.
