The Department of Computer Engineering offers a MS in Artificial Intelligence. Artificial Intelligence (AI) couples the theory and development of computer systems to perform tasks that normally require human intelligence. This program focuses more broadly on building engineering systems powered by advances in machine learning (ML) and AI. In addition to the software aspects, the program also offers electives on hardware advances in ML/AI and AI-powered applications such as autonomous driving. Upon completion of this program, students will be able to:

  • Identify and apply fundamental concepts, algorithms and methodologies to formulate, analyze, design and evaluate machine learning and artificial intelligence systems.
  • Tackle complex machine learning and artificial intelligence problems using contemporary principles, algorithms, technologies, methodologies and tools.
  • Apply mathematical principles to formulate and solve problems related to AI systems engineering.
  • Participate and lead teams to develop and build machine learning and artificial intelligence-driven systems.

This program prepares students for careers including data scientists, data engineers, AI/ML engineers, AI research engineers, AI architect, AI compiler engineer, automation engineer, AI software engineer, AI application engineer, applied deep learning engineer, AI solutions engineer, as well as other traditional science and engineering career paths depending on a given student’s original science and engineering background.

The MS Artificial Intelligence program has two program offerings:

1) The Engineering Extended Studies department is offering an off-campus MS Artificial Intelligence part-time program designed to accommodate domestic working professionals. For more information about the off-campus program, please visit the program website here

2) The Computer Engineering department is offering an on-campus MS Artificial Intelligence full-time program that is open to both domestic and international students. For more information about the on-campus program, please visit the program website here
