Some of the largest wildfires in California State history have impacted many CSU campuses in recent years. On multiple occasions, wildfire smoke events have resulted in curtailed activities and/or campus closure at San José State University.
The goal of this program is to outline a clear and consistent methodology for campus decision-making when air quality conditions deteriorate during a wildfire smoke event. EHS will make communication to campus if a wildfire smoke event is severe enough to require operational adjustments to keep faculty, staff and students safe.
Detailed information can be found in the SJSU Wildfire Smoke Event Response Program [pdf].
