Begun in 1993, the Institute's mission is to promote a climate of inquiry within The Valley Foundation School of Nursing by coordinating and promoting the research projects and interests of nursing faculty and students to develop innovative models for nursing research, practice, and education.

The INRP has coordinated, sponsored, and promoted programs that support research activities as well as evidence-based nursing practice at local, regional, national, and international venues.

Such promotion is mainly achieved through the funding of research stipends to students engaged in faculty-directed or faculty-assisted research activities.
