The Simulation Center

The Clinical Simulation Center, located on the third floor of the Health building, provides a safe environment for students to practice and refine their nursing skills. The current focus on patient safety in the healthcare environment presents a need for innovative learning strategies in nursing education. The Valley Foundation School of Nursing provides a variety of opportunities for students to improve their critical nursing skills and further develop their clinical judgment necessary for safe and competent clinical practice.

An important element of our lab is the web-based digital audio-video and learning management system provided by Education Management Solutions, Inc. (EMS). This system provides a means for faculty and students to review clinical performance in debriefing sessions, an essential part of simulation. Students participate in realistic scenarios that provide hands-on experience using real equipment and newly learned skills in a simulated practice setting.
