James Lu is a Senior Scientist in Modeling & Simulation at Genentech. Previously, he worked in translational and clinical modeling groups at AstraZeneca and Roche. He has a BS degree in mathematics and completed PhD research on computational fluid dynamics, all from MIT. He subsequently carried out postdoctoral research in the areas of mathematical and systems biology, prior to joining the pharmaceutical industry. In his current role, he is using various quantitative approaches to support drug development, including mathematical modeling, machine learning and deep learning. He is interested in developing future talent and supervises various intern and post-doctoral fellowship projects at Genentech.
