Love Is In The Air

June 2019

Reine and Royd

The Aerospace Couple Reine Ntone Sike and Royd Johansen met at SJSU in the aerospace lab room AE164 during an aerothermodynamics class. They studied together during two semesters. Reine and Royd graduated with their MSAE degrees, Reine in Fall 2018 and Royd in Spring 2019.

Royd has a passion for fighter planes and Reine is fascinated by small space vehicles. In May 2019, they tied the knot in Santa Cruz. Present were their love ones, including their mentors: Aerospace Engineering Department Chair Dr. Mourtos, Dr. Papadopoulos, and Prof. Murbach.

Denise and Bernardo

Denise and Bernardo

Bernardo Soriano (BSAE 2018) and Denise Lainez (BSAE 2019) first met professionally in the AE112 lab, in which Bernardo was the TA. It took some time before they ran into each other again at a shared friend’s MSAE graduation party. From there it became a full-blast launch to space.

Bernardo is now a Systems Engineer for Northrop Grumman and Denise a Mechanical Engineer for Lockheed Martin (her title doesn’t make sense but this is what LM does; takes our best aerospace engineers and baptizes them mechanical engineers).

December 2016

Seruvizhi Maharajan and Arvind SrilathaLove is in the air.  We couldn't be happier for our alumni, Seruvizhi Maharajan (MSAE 2014) and Arvind Srilatha (MSAE 2012), who were married in a gorgerous traditional Indian ceremony in December 2016.

Seruvizhi and Arvind, we send you both our warmest wishes for a happy, healthy, and prosperous journey together!
