Admission into the MSAE Program

Admission to SJSU

To be admitted to the MSAE Program a student must first be admitted to SJSU. The Graduate Admissions website provides all the relevant information and deadlines.

Admission to MSAE Program

Students with a BSAE degree from a US ABET accredited institution and a GPA greater than 3.0 are normally admitted as Classified.

Students with a BSAE degree and GPA less than 3.0 may be admitted Conditionally. The condition of their admission into the MSAE Program is that they will take two AE courses, selected in consultation with the AE Graduate Coordinator, and earn a grade of B or better in each.

Students with a degree other than BSAE may be admitted Conditionally.  The condition of their admission into the MSAE Program is that they will take the following BSAE core courses:

  • AE 114 - Aerospace Structural Analysis II
  • AE 138 - Vector-Based Dynamics for Aerospace Applications
  • AE 160 - Aerodynamics I
  • AE 162 - Aerodynamics II
  • AE 164 - Aerothermodynamics
  • AE 167 - Aerospace Propulsion
  • AE 168 - Aerospace Vehicle Dynamics & Control

If necessary, conditionally admitted students must also take any prerequisites for these courses. On the other hand, students who have taken equivalent courses as part of their undergraduate degree may be waived the requirement for one or more of these courses.

The GRE is not required for admission.
