Chávez, Huerta, Itliong Month

2026 Calendar Update

As of March 17, 2026, the CCCAC has paused 2026 CHI Month programming in solidarity with our community and other organizations taking similar steps in this difficult moment. We are taking time to thoughtfully process this information.

As we move forward with care and consideration, we are working closely with our team and campus partners to intentionally re-envision programming in ways that reflect and uphold our center’s values, while supporting the community we love.

We appreciate our community’s patience, grace, and understanding as we navigate this moment together. We will keep our community informed about any updates.

Historical Context of CHI Month

Annually, the CCCAC has hosted Chávez, Huerta, Itliong Month (CHI Month) in March to honor the namesake of the center. It's purpose has been to commemorate the historic decision to begin the Delano Grape Strike, which was launched through the partnership of César Chávez, Dolores Huerta, and Larry Itliong.

The month-long celebration has consisted of CHI Day of Celebration, and a series of programs and events that address and honor the life and legacy of César Chávez, continuing injustices farm workers are experiencing, and environmental/food justice topics.
