New BS Computer Science + Geology Degree!
The Geology and Computer Science departments at SJSU are delighted to announce their
new joint BS degree in Computer Science + Geology, one of the few such programs in
the country. Students in this new interdisciplinary program will learn to apply computing
methods to geoscience and environmental problems, thereby meeting the growing need
for employees with skills such as managing, acquiring, and analyzing big data sets
and running computer models. The decreasing costs of computing power are facilitating
use of computing approaches to solve major geoscience problems, like those associated
with earthquake prediction, geotechnical engineering, and landslides. For more info,
