Alena Sauzade, Gallery Director and Collections Manager

Alena Sauzade joined San Jose State University as Gallery Director and Collections Manager in 2020. Since that time, she has launched a number of initiatives, including California Ecologies, a collaborative and multidisciplinary multi-year curatorial program that focuses on exploring California’s past and present and brings a diverse group of artists, writers, researchers and professionals together in dialogue about the future of our state. Sauzade earned her Phd in Art History from Stony Brook University, where she specialized in public art and commemoration.

Ashley Elieff, Gallery Coordinator and Instructional Art Technician

Ashley Elieff joined San Jose State University as the Gallery Coordinator in 2023. Having worked and volunteered at various art museums and historic sites, Ashley’s background is in Art and costume history. As the Gallery Coordinator, she manages the Student Art Gallery program and is the primary Art Technician for the Natalie and James Thompson Gallery.
