Emergency Operations

Emergency Operations is managed by Emergency Management and the University Police Department. The Emergency Operations Center (EOC) and Emergency Operations Plan (EOP) are essential for effective crisis management. The EOC may be activated during campus emergencies and acts as a centralized hub for coordination during emergencies, while the EOP outlines strategies and procedures for preparation, response, and recovery.

Emergency Operations Plan (EOP)

The Emergency Operations Plan outlines the response and recovery procedures for various campus departments, as well as the coordination and communication among them. An updated 2024 version is currently underway.

EOP Annexes

The Functional Annexes to the EOP provide additional detailed guidelines and directions for managing emergencies. Updated Annexes will be available soon.

EOC Organization

This organizational chart, specific to San José State University, summarizes the management structure for each section assigned to the Emergency Operations Center (EOC).

EOC Director

The EOC Director has overall responsibility and authority for the operation of the EOC. He/she will ensure that the EOC is staffed and operated at a level commensurate with the emergency.

Public Information Officer

Media services, logistics and access are managed by the EOC Public Information Officer (PIO) who, outside of EOC activation, serves as the university Senior Director for Media Relations.
