Safety Escort Program

In the event that you feel unsafe walking on campus, UPD will provide an escort to any location within campus. The service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Typically, a trained uniformed student assistant with a police radio will walk you to your destination. However, in the event that a student assistant is not available, a police officer will provide the escort.

Monday to Friday during Fall/Spring semesters, from 7:30 p.m. to 1 a.m., the SJSU Safe Ride Program extends the escort outside campus to Interstate 280 to the south, Julian Street to the north, First Street to the west and Sixteenth Street to the east.

To request an escort, just use any Bluelight phone or elevator telephone. You will be connected to a UPD dispatcher who will arrange the escort. Arrangements can also be made by calling the UPD safety escort/Saferide Shuttle line directly at 408-924-2000.
