A maximum of 24 semester units of Open University baccalaureate-level credit may be applied toward bachelor’s degree requirements at San José State University. However, each department decides whether a particular course will be accepted toward a major or minor. Further information may be obtained from the SJSU Catalog available online at catalog.sjsu.edu. Units earned in Open University courses do not meet degree residence requirements.
You may not apply more than 30% of the total Open University credit or credit transferred from another university – in any approved combination; e.g. for 30 units Master degree, you may not apply more than 9 units. However, each department decides whether a particular course will be accepted toward a major or minor. Further information may be obtained from the SJSU Catalog available online at catalog.sjsu.edu.
You should meet with the Undergraduate or Graduate Advisor of the department where you are pursuing a degree to make sure the course(s) you are taking count toward your degree/program.
Credit/No Credit Option – (CR/NC)
The registration deadline date is the last day you may change from the traditional grading system to the credit/no credit option or vice versa. Information on restrictions on the use of credit/no credit options for degree candidates may be found in the SJSU Catalog. Credit/No Credit option forms may be obtained online on our Forms webpage. Completed forms should be returned to window R (Office of the Registrar) in the Student Services Center.
"AU" - Auditing a Class
Enrollment as an auditor is subject to the permission of the instructor provided that enrollment in a course as an auditor shall be permitted only after students otherwise eligible to enroll on a credit basis have had an opportunity to do so. Auditors are subject to the same fee structure as credit students and regular class attendance is expected.
Once enrolled as an auditor, a student may not change to credit status unless such a change is requested no later than the last day to add classes. Auditors must be officially registered in the course before choosing the audit grade option.
