1098-T and Tax Credits

The university reports SJSU students' qualified tuition and fees charged between January 1 and December 31 of the most recent calendar year. The qualified financial transactions is provided on the 1098-T tuition statement.

Through the Taxpayer Relief Act, taxpayers may claim a credit against their federal income taxes for certain educational expenses if the student qualifies for the American Opportunity Tax Credit or Lifetime Learning Tax Credit.
