Authorization for Parents or Guardians

Students may provide consent for a parent or legal guardian by filing an Authorization to Release Information [pdf] form to access and discuss their student account information.

Separately, students may also authorize parents or guardians as Authorized Payers [pdf] in Transact (formerly Cashnet) to make payments.

Authorization to Release Information

As an authorized user, you can view your student’s account balance and discuss your student’s account with the Bursar’s Office staff. This authorization does not include access to the Transact parent portal. Refer to the instructions on how to become an authorized payer [pdf] linked below. Lastly, you will not be able to view your student’s class schedules or grades.

Your student must first log in to MySJSU and set up an authorized user. For detailed instructions, refer to Authorization to Release Information [pdf].

Authorized Payer

As an Authorized Payer, you can log in to the Transact parent portal and make a payment towards your student’s account. To set up parent access, your student must follow the illustrated guide [pdf] on how to set up an Authorized Payer [pdf]. 

Parents and other authorized users log in differently than students. Authorized payers may access the payment site only via SJSU Student Account Online.
