Program Learning Outcomes

PLOs for the Healthcare Engineering Program

By the end of the program, students should be able to:

  1. Demonstrate an understanding of physiological, psychological, and social changes associated with aging and the knowledge of the various theories related to aging and technology.
  2. Demonstrate an understanding of data mining process and perform analysis using contemporary data mining tools and the application of machine learning algorithms and techniques to develop devices/systems for specific needs.
  3. Recognize different types of sensors and their respective functions. Interpret sensor signal conditioning and identify requirements for sensor integration with other devices.
  4. Develop a robot's kinematic motion and trajectory using relevant mathematics and control the robot's motion for a desired performance.
  5. Perform system design & development and implement an integrated approach: a mission statement, synthesis of design concepts, tradeoff studies, risk assessment and interactions encountered in the optimal design, development, manufacture, and test of healthcare engineering systems.
  6. Tackle complex engineering problems using contemporary principles, algorithms, technologies, methodologies, and tools.
  7. Advance successfully in their profession and sustain a process of life-long learning in engineering or other professional areas.
