Programs Accepting Applications for Fall 2023

• MS Engineering, Specialization in Smart Sustainable Energy Systems​

  • California’s current renewable portfolio standard (RPS) requires that 60% of the electricity retail sales in the state come from eligible renewable resources by 2030, and 100% by 2045. Achieving these targets requires significant developments in the production, deployment, and grid-wide management of various renewable energy resources such as solar, wind, and hydroelectric power, as well as battery and fuel cell storage technologies.

    Our MSE program with a specialization in Smart Sustainable Energy Systems aims at providing the students with the essential knowledge and technical skills required to formulate, analyze, and solve complex problems related to the optimal design and integration of sustainable energy sources into the modern power networks.  

    **This program is offered as a hybrid program allowing local students to attend in-person while providing the opportunity for remote students to join from anywhere in the United States. Remote students will be required to attend at least one required in-person learning activity.

    Graduates can pursue roles such as Energy Analyst, Energy Systems Test Engineer, Energy Systems Engineer, Energy Risk Manager, Energy Program/Product Manager

    Students interested in pursuing this program should have an engineering, science or technical undergraduate degree with coursework in programming, differential equations and basic circuits. 

    Note: This program is not open to international applications on F-1, J-1 or B visa.

• MS Software Engineering, Specialization in Cloud and Mobile Computing

• MS Software Engineering, Specialization in Data Science

    Our program prepares students and professionals to investigate and summarize real-world data of all sizes, ask the right questions, find informative answers, and create visualizations that effectively communicate their results. Through a combination of theory and practical data analyses, students learn the foundations of extracting knowledge from data, verifying the utility of the information, and scaling their analysis to Big Data. The program emphasizes teamwork throughout the curriculum, as an essential part of preparing students for working in industry.

    This specialization prepares students to practice the entire analytics process, from translating real-world objects into data to presenting information gleaned from the analysis.

• MS Artificial Intelligence

  • According to a new report from the World Economic Forum, the demand for artificial intelligence is set to create 58 million new jobs by 2022. Even though science fiction often portrays AI as robots with humanoid qualities, the field encompasses a vast amount of products, from Google’s search algorithms to autonomous vehicles like a Tesla. The rapid growth of AI allows creativity to thrive and creates endless possibilities for the future. 

    Our MSAI program provides students with the advanced skills that underlie AI including logic, regression and machine learning.  Students will pursue topics in-depth, with hands-on experience built into the courses. 

    Students interested in pursuing an MSAI should have an engineering undergraduate degree and extensive programming experience.

• MSSE, Specialization in Enterprise Technologies

  • The Enterprise Technologies program updates and advances your skills and programming knowledge for large-scale, internet-based systems using the latest enterprise platform technologies.

    Enterprise software, and the platform it runs on, is an ever evolving collection of software and hardware technologies, standards, and programming techniques. Discover new technologies in enterprise distributed systems and enterprise-level application development – including Internet of Things, enterprise security, and recent technology additions like Quantum Computing. As a graduate of this program, you will receive a Masters of Science in Software Engineering degree plus a substantial boost to your career.
