Leave, Vacation and Holidays

Vacation hours accruals begin immediately following start date. The number of vacation hours accruals varies depending upon assignment, employee status (manager/non-manager), and length of employment. Part-time employees receive vacation accrual in proportion to their percentage (of assignment) of the full-time rate. Accrued but unused vacation hours are paid out upon termination of a Research Foundation employment. For more information, please contact the Research Foundation Human Resources department.
Sick leave hours accumulations are credited at the rate of eight hours per month for full time employees. Part time employees earn sick leave based on the percentage of time they work. Project employees may accumulate 96 hours on a continuing grant. Non-benefited employees receive 40 hours of paid sick leave per calendar year. New employees must wait until the 90th calendar day of employment to use the sick leave. Accumulated but unused sick leave hours are not paid out at the end of a Research Foundation employment.
Leave of Absence
Leaves of Absence are available to certain employees pursuant to a number of programs, including the Family Medical Leave Act/California Family Rights Act and other programs. Please refer to details in Request Form below.
