2026 Survey Administration

The COACHE Faculty Job Satisfaction Survey is administered periodically as part of a multi-year cycle of listening, reflection, and action. Click on the links below to learn more about eligibility and timeline for the current cycle.

Who is eligible to participate?

The COACHE survey is administered to benefits-eligible regular, counselor, and librarian faculty (full-time or part-time) who have been employed at SJSU for at least one full calendar year.

The COACHE survey does not include coaches, faculty in their terminal year after being denied tenure, faculty who have not yet been employed at SJSU for a full calendar year, or senior administrators (such as deans, associate deans, and vice provosts).

This approach aligns with COACHE survey standards and captures the experiences of faculty who have had sufficient time to engage with institutional policies, practices, and campus climate, rather than administrative roles or transitional employment statuses.

How is the survey administered?

The COACHE Faculty Job Satisfaction Survey is administered online by COACHE, not by SJSU. Eligible faculty receive a unique survey link directly from COACHE via email.

The survey typically takes approximately 25 minutes to complete and may be completed in multiple sittings. COACHE sends reminder emails only to those who have not yet completed the survey. While SJSU administrators and other interested parties, including members of the steering committee, may issue reminders to participate, all unique survey links will be emailed directly to eligible faculty from COACHE.

Participation is voluntary, and responses are confidential.

When is the survey open?

The survey will be open during Spring 2026, following the schedule below:

  • Week of February 17, 2026: Survey launches
  • Week of March 2, 2026: Initial reminder email
  • Week of March 9, 2026: Reminder email 2
  • Week of March 23, 2026: Reminder email 3
  • Week of March 30, 2026: Final reminder email
  • April 7, 2026: Survey closes

Faculty are encouraged to participate early, but responses are accepted throughout the open period.

What happens after the survey closes?

COACHE is designed as a cycle of listening, learning, and action, not a one-time data collection effort. Here’s what happens after the survey closes:

  • Summer 2026: COACHE analyzes the survey data and prepares institutional and benchmarked reports, which are shared with SJSU in aggregate, de-identified form.
  • Fall 2026: An SJSU team of faculty and administrators participates in a COACHE strategy workshop. This workshop supports campus-wide understanding of the results and helps identify priority areas for discussion and action through shared governance processes.
  • 2027 and Beyond: Faculty and administrators work together to interpret findings, identify next steps, and implement actions informed by the survey. Progress and updates are shared with the campus community over time.
