Fall 2026 Registration Bulletin

This bulletin contains information about Fall 2026 registration deadlines, permission numbers, automated waitlists, time conflicts, audit options, and instructor drops.

July 29, Wednesday: Registration opens for students repeating a class  

    • First-time repeaters can start registering via MySJSU
    • Our office started processing Petitions for a Repeat Exception (DocuSign) for Students repeating a class for the second or more times or repeating in excess of 28 units.  Once approved and processed, students will receive a notification that they may enroll in the class or add themselves to the waitlist if the class is full.

August 5, Wednesday at 9 a.m.: Registration via MySJSU opens for Open University students

    • Open University students that need 200 level classes must submit the DocuSign registration form on Open University page for GAPE approval.

August 18, Tuesday: Class Rosters will be “Clean” after 12:00 p.m.  

    • Log into faculty self-service. Your class roster will show all enrolled, waitlisted, and students who have dropped.

August 19, Wednesday: First Day of Instruction, the automated waitlist remains active.

August 28, Friday: Waitlist ends

August 29, Saturday: A Permission Number is required to add a class

September 15, Tuesday: Last day to 

    • Submit instructor drops
    • Add/ Drop Classes via MySJSU
    • Drop a class without a “W” grade
    • Change grading option to Credit/No Credit or Audit 
    • Last Day to file Excess Units Petition

September 16, Wednesday: Enrollment Census Date

    • The Chancellor’s Office Enrollment Report will not include additions after this date - official FTEs will not change.

September 17, Thursday: 

Special Notes:

      • Automated Waitlist: Waitlists will be reorganized to give priority to graduating seniors and graduate students per University Policy F20-1 [pdf].  
      • Time Conflicts: Permission numbers cannot override time conflicts. Students need to follow instructions on the Time Conflict Consent page.
      • Audit option: If an instructor permits a student to take a class on an “Audit” basis, the student must enroll in the class and submit an Audit option request (DocuSign) by the add deadline. Classes taken on an Audit basis do not count toward enrollment status for financial aid eligibility.
