How to apply:
1 – Submit a FAFSA or CADAA application with SJSU listed – school code: 001155
2 – Complete the Golden State Teacher Grant Application at the CSAC website.
3 – SJSU will receive the certification request from CSAC and we will confirm your eligibility based upon your program of study and determine the amount of your GSTG based upon your financial aid award. Your GSTG award must fit within your posted Cost of Attendance and will be coordinated with other aid awarded and received. Once we have confirmed this information, SJSU will “offer” the award on your MySJSU portal. You will not be able to “accept” the award. SJSU will “accept” the award once the funds are received from CSAC.
4 - Complete the Service Agreement sent by CSAC. Be aware that these grant funds have a service agreement between the student and CSAC to receive the funds.
Students must agree to the following:
- Complete their program of study and obtain their credential within 3 years of the first disbursement of the GSTG funds.
- Commit to work at a priority school in California for 4 years within 8 years of completing theirprogram. A priority school list is provided by CSAC on the GSTG website.
- The service agreement will also outline the consequences for repayment of the grant if the above is not met.
5 - CSAC will send the funds to SJSU. Be aware that the funds will come in the form of a paper check and can take up to 8 weeks for CSAC to send out.
