Bio

Michael Llewellyn-Williams is the Founder and Principal at BrandMechanics® and has worked in advertising, brand consulting and market research for over forty years in the United Kingdom, Europe, the United States and Asia Pacific. 

A lecturer on three continents, he is the author of Brand Mechanics: The art and science of building brands (Chromium Books, 2013) and The 10 Golden Rules for Consumer Insights (LinkedIn, 2015).

Elected to membership of the Institute of Practitioners in Advertising in London in 1985, he received the prestigious IPA Marketing Award for Innovation in 1990.  The same year, he was admitted as a member of The Marketing Society, also in London.

A conference chair and speaker on three continents, Dr. Llewellyn-Williams has also twice been a judge for the American Marketing Association’s advertising effectiveness awards, The Effies, in New York.

He has appeared on British TV (“The London Programme” and “The Six O’Clock News”) discussing advertising themes for London and for the UK general election.

Johnson, Lea & Perrins Worcestershire Sauce and The Partnership for a Drug-Free America.

Agency experience includes working with BMP (where he worked with Stanley Pollitt – one of the founders of account planning), WCRS, FCB, The Creative Business (where he worked with David Bernstein – doyen of British brand gurus) and KMM in London; Leo Burnett Asia Pacific; Ketchum Advertising, Winkler Advertising, Ketchum PR and Attik in San Francisco; RPA in Los Angeles; and Klaus E. Küster Werbeagentur in Frankfurt.

Dr. Llewellyn-Williams is also an Adjunct Professor at the University of San Francisco.
